Mess Hall for Eating

Emma got up after finishing her food "See you around Justin."

Sarah nodded and smiled, "Mind if I sit?"

"No. Of course not." Justin said. "Emma, this is my friend and your half-sister, Sarah."

Emma turned to look at Sarah "hello."

Sarah sat down and smiled

"So... I didn't really get a chance to talk to you the other day. Tell me about yourself." He said.

Tara left the mess hall unimpeded.

"Oh... um... well theres a lot of things. Most of them are bad. Like the fact that I have extreme depression... Then theres my cancer..." She said biting her lip and looked down at he plate

"Cancer?" Justin asked.

Emma left after finishing up the last of her drink.

"TARA!" I shout, looking all around from side to side, knowing she was here last.

Sarah nodded slowly, "I got cancer in my lungs due to my step dad smoking around me a lot. I got diagnosed when I was 13."

"Oh..." Justin said. He noticed Emma leave and he wanted to chase after her but he didn't want to come off as clingy so he stayed with Sarah.

"Yeah. Its been a hard ride. Most of its gone. But not all of it..."

"Well, that's good." Justin said. "At least it's not terminal or anything." He probably shouldn't have said that, but he'd regret it later if he shouldn't.

She laughed and nodded, "Yeah." She bit into her sandwich and looked at him, "So is Emma your girlfriend?"

"DAMN IT THEY ALWAYS DO THIS!" I shout and storm out of the Mess Hall.

Sarah turned towards the screaming and frowned, "Way to make a scene..."

Justin blushed. "No." He said. "She's been my best friend since I showed up here."

"Oh. Do you have a girlfriend?" She asked blushing

Lance

I walk into the mess hall, a spring in my step.

Following from behind him I ask, "You seem in a better mood suddenly."

Lance

"Hm? Oh, my stomach must know its about to be fed or something. Maybe that's why," I say, dismissing her statement.

I sit down at a table and my plate becomes covered in assortments of fruit and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I smile and start devouring the sandwich.

I watch him eat, not trying to be awkward or anything. I hated to admit it but sitting here with him brought back memories of the old days, back when I first joined. Even still after I had attempted to dismiss the memories they always came back, reminding me of when he wasn't always so egotistical and obnoxious. They reminded me that we had been good friends and I had been able to open up to him. It reminded me why I still bother with him even after he changed on me without reason.

Maybe if he hadn't been chosen by Tessa to go on the quest that day he would still be the same Lance I knew. The one that got me to this point. The one I still cared for despite how much he bothered me now.

Clutching the shirt I was wearing around the collar I speak, "Have you always liked fruits?"

Lance

"Yep, I think they might actually be my favorite thing to eat. They're one of the most common foods you can get; No matter where you go you always find some kind fruit," I respond with a grin, before I take a bit out of an apple.
